xx Sponsorship, team wellfare and some thing about life, and dreams
January 10, 2007, 12:28:21 PM by Dval
I know everyone wants to be sponsored...But do you need it.  Some teams talk about shooting 30 cases of paint and having 1200 dollar guns....They need sponsored to afford all that stuff whether it be discounted gear, discounted paint or a cash sponsor.  I personally am a fan of discounts, but cash is sometimes nice.  Discounts go towards your whole team to help everyone afford everything, cash has to be split up amongst everyone equally and it is normally much harder to find a cash sponsor vs a discount sponsor.  There are also full sponsorships, which would be nice, but I think they are too obligating and for me they take some of the fun out of the sport.  Not that I wouldn't mind playing paintball for free when I go to a Capt n Carl's event, But the whole way of thinking that I have to play paintball no matter what whether I'm sick or dying or not is not appealing to me.  I would rather go and have fun and not have to worry about winning every time I play.  I still worry about winning but not so much as I have to win to get paid.  I like winning because to me it means that I didn't let my guys down and they didn't let me down.  It shows unity and teamwork and friendship.  Something I think alot of teams lack.  The unity of a team is a very important thing.  It is like family...what do you have if you dont have family?  Personally my team is like family to me.  We can argue and bicker some times but it's all for the better of the team.  At one point in time I was too immature to understand that when we all fought and argued it was because we were upset and we all knew we could do better than we had.  For any one of the guys on my team they could say shoot and I would say who, what, where, and how much...I respect all the non tournament players as well.  The guys who have groups of friends and just go out to have fun and winning doesn't matter to them.  Sometimes I wish things were still that way, but then I look at all we have accomplished in the last 3 years and it makes me happy to know that even though we have changed our name, and changed a few members around, we are still the same team we have always been.  And for that I think I have recognized that one of my dreams have been accomplished.  I used to dream of having what I have now and I wouldn't trade what I have now with my teammates for anything in the world.  I am still here, Carl is still here, Jake and Ian are still here, Josh and Tyler are still here, Steve is around here somewhere....We are still the basic team we started out with last year...And for us this is real....This is life

xx Winter Months are a drag
January 02, 2007, 11:56:55 AM by Dval
Yes I know....Everyone preaches about how you're supposed to keep in the groove over the winter months by playing at indoor fields and such.  I personally just find the winter months to be a drag.  Its almost depressing.  Everything is dead...The trees, the grass, all the animals are hibernating and such...NO ONE IS PLAYING PAINTBALL.  The last 3 to four times I have been to outlaw, It's been totally dead.  Its even more depressing and more un-motivational.  I love being able to go there once in a while and chilling and playing a few scrimmage games, but I hate doing it all the time.  It's like...well never mind whats it's like but it sucks.  I love the summer play days outdoors and such...No echoing of th walls when you try to tell your snake man to move up or screams and shrieks of poor bunkering victims.  I almost have grown to despise indoor paintball.  I am much more of an outdoor player now than ever.  I just cant wait till the first weekend it's back in the 70s and the sun is shining and the team is gossiping with old friends again from Crimson Reign and Velocity's 7 man team.  Hell I may even make a trip to Kelly's paintball field to see how his guys are doing.  All I want to know is how can you keep your level of play up when you have this many seasonal perks....I am finding it hard to rekindle my paintball spirit especially in the winter....I have played 3 times since it began getting cold out...and even less recently.  I am looking forward to 2 or 3 more practices until it gets warmer but thats it...Thats means in the last hmmm I'd say 2 months and the coming 3 months I will have played a max total of 6 times...Will it be enough?  These questions will soon be answered in the coming season at CCPL...

xx High Ends: Will They Ever Be Dominated by MidLevel Guns?
December 20, 2006, 06:13:42 PM by mastershake
I have noticed the PMR and the Mini, and they are just simplified versions of high end guns. Does anyone else think that in a year or two, most will use these mid range guns, and the "High End" as we know it may dissapear?Eg. The Mini works like the freestyle, and the PMR is a PM with no LPR and rubber and plastic. Also, I wonder if rubber and plastic parts, as used on the mini, will once be used on high end guns as a way to shave off weight. Does anyone think they will? I do, because obviously Rubber/Plastic is lighter than metal, which is what Egos, Shockers and various other highends are made of.
